The term “Blepharoplasty” originated from the Greek word Blepharon - meaning eyelids and Plastikos meaning to mold. The phrase Blepharoplasty was coined by Karl Ferdinand von Grofe in 1818 when this method was used to treat cancer of the eyelids.

Today this technique is used for both functional and cosmetic reasons to restore youth and beauty to the eyelids.
